To help in identifying cartouches on Springfield M1861, M1863, and Needham Conversions with a Springfieled stock. Just because it has a Springfield lock does not mean it has a Springfield stock. If the stock does not have any cartouches it is most likely a Bridesburg stock or a former state issued stock.
